Add any forest around campus to the Experimental Forest to prevent the forests from being destroyed for construction projects.
The Issue
Forests are important to both the ecosystem and to humans. They provide animal habitats and if the forest is gone both animals and plants have the potential to go extinct. The trees in the forest also anchor th topsoil to the ground, whihc lessens runoff to the streams. This runoff would create murky waters that would lessen the amount of sunlight able to penetrate the water. The forest is also a large carbon sink, taking carbon out of the atmosphere and emitting oxygen. If cut down, the atmosphere would fill with large amounts of carbon, contributing to global warming. There will also be less oxygen in the atmosphere. I believe that if we band together, we will be able to make this piece of forest become part of the Experimental Forest, which would protect it from deforestation forever.
