Demand Governor Asa Hutchinson Grant Clemency for Tavoris Jefferson
Why this petition matters

Tavoris Jefferson was 18 years old at the time of his conviction, and only 17 at the time the crime took place. Tavoris has officially spent 18 years housed in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, his T.E. date is currently in April of 2031. I am circulating this petition on his behalf to get the attention of the current and future Governor of Arkansas to please let this man have a chance to come home to his family and friends that have never even had a chance to watch this young man grow into an adult. Tavoris was given "the best deal" the prosecution was willing to give 45 years on a 70% for his first conviction. The State of Arkansas must end the exorbitant sentences given to young men in this state. This petition could give Tavoris a chance to show his family, friends, and community that he has grown into a kind, Loving and god-fearing man. Let us, as a community, make the Governor and representatives of this state, and the parole board understand that ADC is not a rehabilitative place, that they offer very few programs and what programs they do offer are not designed for those with alot of time. That is why Tavoris has completed all programs he's been allowed to take such as the GED Program, the PAL program and several other volunteer programs. He has also sought out programs not affiliated with the department in a correspondence course which has helped him become job ready and has enable him to rehabilitate himself. Continuing to incarcerate this man when he is perfectly willing and capable of being a contributing member of this society would do more harm, than good. Please help bring this husband, father, and son home to his community and show our Goverment that he has spent these last 18 years growing up incarcerated and has turned his life towards God and helping others.
