Petition for Enhanced Drainage System
We, the undersigned residents of Lipa City, are writing to urge the local government to address the urgent need for an improved drainage management in our area.
As a concerned citizen, we'd like to start a petition to prevent flooding in our municipality and request that the Flood Control Team of City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) expedite their operations so that we don't have to deal with the intense pollution. We encourage everyone to sign this petition! Let us do everything we can to stop the flooding.
Issues:
Flooding: With the recent situation regarding the typhoon Kristine, Lipa City alongside other municipalities in Batangas region experienced flooding for the first time. Lipa City is known for its high elevation, and the flooding caused by this typhoon surprised us locals as it is the first time that this happened. The major factor that contributes to the flooding is the drainage system and the trash pollution.
Public Health Concerns: Flooding poses a threat to our health, as the water may be contaminated with diseases such as leptospirosis and dengue. If a loose wire is present in the vicinity of a flood, anyone near might be electrocuted. Homeless people and stray animals prone to diseases due to the fact that they do not have shelter and are mostly outside.
Request for Action:
· Engage with community members for input on effective solutions.
· Assess the current drainage infrastructure and needing improvement.
· Investing in necessary upgrades and maintenance to ensure efficient water flow and management.
Signatures:
We appreciate your attention to this important issue that our municipality is currently facing and look forward to your prompt action.
Thank you,
Residence of Lipa City
