CLEAR ILLEGALLY DUMPED WASTE AND RESTORE PARK AS PER CDP IN JP NAGAR 2ND PHASE , BENGALURU
The Issue
Subject: Urgent public grievance regarding illegal conversion of Alaspandana Park (J.P. Nagar 2nd Phase) into a BBMP waste dump yard and Dry Waste Collection Centre (DWCC).
LOCATION: AT THE JUNCTION OF 8TH MAIN AND 9TH CROSS, SY NO. 90/1, 90/2 & 93 OF 2ND PHASE, J P NAGAR, BENGALURU 560078
We, the residents of J.P. Nagar 2nd Phase, bring to your urgent notice the severe misuse of public land earmarked for a Park in the Comprehensive Development Plan 2015.
Sanctioned Land Use: The land measuring 1,09,418.25 sq. ft. located between 9th Cross, 8th Main, and 11th Cross was handed over to BBMP exclusively for a public park.
Current Grievance: BBMP has unlawfully converted this park area into a solid waste dumping yard and a Dry Waste Collection Centre (DWCC).
Health & Safety Hazards: The dump yard is located on the main roads with lot of traffic and is a nuisance to everyone not just the residents. This dump has grown so much that it extends onto the main road and adjacent roads too. Massive loads of construction debris, branches of trees, piles of plastic, foams, stones and other hazardous waste are also polluting the environment and especially the nearby borewells and ground water storage. It has triggered severe vermin infestation (rats and snakes), very foul odour, and a major fire incident in May 2023. This gross violation of use is no doubt a severe health, environment and fire hazard for all the nearby residents.
Official Admission: Inspections by the Horticulture Department (10.06.2024) and the Assistant Executive Engineer (19.12.2025) have confirmed this illegal land misuse.
Current Threat: Civic authorities are now trying to permanently continue waste operations here instead of shifting them to an alternative site. Bengaluru desperately needs lung space and trees planted for each of us to simply survive and NOT convert park spaces to waste dumpyards.
