Take down Armenian Genocide denial billboard next to Armenian Genocide Memorial in Boston

This petition had 2,132 supporters

Clear Channel Outdoor Boston have a billboard at Salem and Cross Streets in Boston's North End (permit number 12122 issued by the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Advertising), on the same street as the Armenian Heritage Park, a memorial to the Armenian Genocide, 1000 feet away. Clear Channel recently installed a billboard advertising the Armenian Genocide denial group Turkic Platform's website, a controversial website that claims there never was an Armenian Genocide.

The purchase of the billboard is timed to coincide with celebrations in April to commemorate the Armenian Genocide, including the ceremony for the annual reconfiguration of the park’s symbolic sculpture and Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur's Walk Against Genocide (from the Holocaust Memorial to the Armenian Heritage Park), which will pass the billboard on Sunday, April 10th and the Annual Armenian Genocide Commemoration on Sunday, April 24th which draws hundreds of people from the Armenian community to the park every year.

The placement and timing of the billboard is designed to rewrite the history of this horrific event and be offensive to Armenians. It is meant to interfere placewise and timewise with the memorial, which is one of the closest things that we can do in Boston to remember and honor those who died during the Armenian Genocide. This is not accidental. This is purposefully extremely offensive to all Armenians and designed to rewrite history, and it should be taken down immediately.
