Thank you for supporting this petition. Your support has been invaluable in highlighting the issue and urging local councillors and the council itself to take action against dog fouling and littering in areas of L36.

As a result of your support, Councillor Colin Dever has taken the following actions:

  • Attended the Page Moss Action Day (week of 19 Feb) to engage with the council team at Jubilee Park specifically about dog fouling.
  • Secured agreement for pavement stencilling in the affected areas (Western Avenue, Easton Road, Beechburn Road).
  • Secured increased enforcement patrols in the specific streets identified in the petition.
  • Personally went out with fellow councillors on Roby Road and Childwall Lane to highlight dog fouling, fly-tipping and littering issues to residents directly.
  • Regularly conducts community litter picks with fellow Swanside Ward councillors.
  • Kept us directly informed throughout, forwarding internal council communications to loop us in on progress.

Since Cllr Dever's consultation with Environmental Health, I followed up directly with Environmental Health Officer Jennifer Benjamin to ask for clarification around the council's plan. Here is what was confirmed (see also the screenshot of email above):

  • Campaign start date: Monday 16 March — covering baseline data collection, letter drops, pavement spraying, and engagement with dog walkers across the affected roads.
  • Duration: 10 weeks, in addition to pre-campaign work already underway.
  • Enforcement: Environmental Enforcement Officers will issue £100 Fixed Penalty Notices where offences are witnessed. Patrols are intelligence-led and focused on the highest-reporting periods and locations.
  • Bins: There are currently 10 waste bins in the campaign area. Placement and capacity will be reviewed following the campaign results.
  • Signage: Temporary high-visibility signage will be installed to support behaviour change during the campaign.
  • Measuring success: Results will be assessed using before-and-after fouling counts, complaint trends, patrol outcomes, and delivery data — and the findings will be shared with the community at the end of the intervention.

This is real, tangible progress that would not have happened without your signatures. Please continue to share the petition and encourage others in L36 to sign. The more voices we have, the stronger the case for making these measures permanent.

Thank you again for your support.
