Did you know that 80 trillion Microbeads are going into the ocean each day? Hi, I'm Chloe and I am working on an activism project with my school. I am working to get Microbeads out of daily care products so they aren't going down the drain and harm sea life. Microbeads are tiny plastic beads that are in most of your face washes, exfoliants, and toothpastes. They are going past water filtration systems because they are so small they go into nearby water ways. Fish are eating these Microbeads and getting sick because they affect their endocrine system, so the Microbeads are throwing off hormones and mating seasons for fish.

We should care because fish are dying and that can throw off our whole food chain. Fish are a big food  source to people living near oceans, and we eat fish. Some of the fish that are sick are being caught and sold TO US and we are EATING THE FISH THAT ARE SICK.

This can be fixed you can sign my petition to Clean & Clear which is just one of the major brands who uses Microbeads in their products. You can get an app called Beat the Microbead where you can scan a barcode and find out wether a product has microbeads in it or not.  You also just be more careful about what you buy. The most common plastics in products are polyethylene and polypropylene. Be mindful and help remove this horrible plastic. Thank you- Chloe
