Kurri Kurri Highschool currently has an insufficient power supply to operate more air cons. Our children deserve to be in a school environment that allows them to concentrate and learn effectively, giving them the best opportunity to gain a quality education. Less than half the classrooms at Kurri Kurri Highschool have air conditioning, which in extreme temperatures, is not conducive to learning. In these weather conditions, the potential health risks such as heat stress and heat stroke are all too real and are of great concern. One of my daughters has previously suffered heat stress at school, and many students go home early or don't go to school at all when the temperatures are extreme. There are students at the school with health conditions that are dangerously affected by extreme heat. We are calling for air conditioning to be installed in every room at Kurri Kurri Highschool to ensure our children are in an optimum environment for learning and safety. In order for this to happen, the power supply to the school needs to be addressed as it is currently unable to support any more air conditioners.
