Voters need to Be Educated, and the Debate Forum is one of the Best ways to Do This:

The League of Women Voters is celebrating its 100th year of work supporting the cultivation of an informed citizenry and empowering women and men to vote.

• Their focus has been to get out the vote as well as to make sure that the polity is informed of the issues. On the year of their 100th anniversary in the Utica Area they have been gracious to sponsor a debate between Republican primary candidates George Phillips and Claudia Tenney. 
• The primary will be held on the 23rd of June, 2020. The debate was to be held on the 18 June, but Claudia Tenney refused to Debate George Phillips.
• Both candidates have voiced a desire to promote transparency, and to serve the interest of their constituents by making themselves available to them in a grassroots manner. 
• The Debate arena is one of the most time-honored and grassroots ways for a voter to get to hear the positions of the candidate, and the tradition goes back to the days of the beginning of country. 
• With digital conferencing, even more voters will be able to hear the positions of the two candidates. 
• This year’s election is very important for Republicans in their effort to defeat Anthony Brindisi in the general election, and Republicans statewide are very keen to vote in a candidate who they know and understand. George is a simple man with a rock-solid background in working as a teacher of the Constitution. As a congressional aide to both Chris Smith R-NJ, and Jack Kemp, the founder of the Jack Kemp Foundation, he has been in the center of helping to pass legislation to improve American citizen lives locally and nationally in regards to humanitarian issues as well as economic issues. 
• For whatever reason, Candidate Claudia Tenney has refused to debate George Phillips. Whether that is a campaign strategy or not, it seems very disrespectful to the potential voters who would like to see both George Phillips and herself make their case before the Utica electorate. 
• When candidates refuse to debate a challenger, that is, hear the other side, it shows a disrespect for the ideas that the challenging candidate has to offer. Too many of us voters, have felt that dismissal, and want to vote for someone who we know we will keep in touch with us, and take our input seriously.
