Classify the Tragedies in the Gaza Strip as Genocide

As you likely know, the Middle East has war in all the nooks and crannies. One of the most powerful, however, is taking place in the Gaza Strip. As put by The United Nations,
"In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
- Killing members of the group;
- Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
- Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
- Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
- Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."
The UN's classifications (as of October 8ᵗʰ, 2026) for Israel's acts toward the Gaza Strip as genocide are pending. This means that currently, Israel has not technically committed genocide. However, the statistics state otherwise.
- 1. Israel has killed members of the Gaza Strip.
a. As of October 8ᵗʰ, 2026, 74,245+ lives in the Gaza Strip have been taken by Israeli attacks. (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs)
- Israel has caused serious bodily and mental harm to members of the Gaza Strip.
a. As of October 8ᵗʰ, 2026, 172,000+ people in the Gaza Strip Have been physically injured (World Health Organization)
b. As of October 8ᵗʰ, 2026 mass psychological distress affects nearly all residents. (National Institution of Health
- Israel has forcibly placed harm on the children of the Gaza Strip. Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children, causing massive death, injury, and trauma in the Gaza Strip. (United Nations.)
The requirements to be classified as genocide specifically say any of the acts listed in the numbered list above. Not only has Israel done one, but three of these five.
