By reclassifying assault weapons from "guns" to "weapons of mass destruction," politicians will be free to vote against the sale, ownership and manufacturing  of these weapons. If we have learned nothing else from Columbine, Red Lake, Virginia Tech, Newtown, and dozens of other places of education, we have learned that these are not guns. These weapons have the capacity to maim, kill, injure, and destroy dozens of lives in an instant. If a home pressure cooker can be labeled a “weapon of mass destruction,” then certainly these assault weapons can be as well.
