Delay opening and have a virtual plan at Clarke County School District

To my fellow CCSD parents,

We have all come to the accurate realization that opening the schools on August 3rd is not safe for not only our student body but our teachers as well.  As the Covid-19 daily cases are rising in Georgia, and in surrounding states, we must be in this together and stand united — students, faculty and parents alike.

During this unprecedented time we need to take unprecedented actions.

We are calling upon Clarke Country District Schools to do the following:

1.  Move the start date of our schools to after Labor Day at which time we can assess the Covid-19 data further.

2.  To create a plan for our student body and faculty so they can learn and teach in a safe and healthy way.

3.  To put the health of our loved ones FIRST and work around that requirement.

4.  Complete transparency to how CCSD comes up with a plan for our student body and faculty, including any relevant datasets.

5.  Questions from faculty members to be answered clearly, they are as follows:

  • If a teacher tests positive do they have to quarantine for 14 days?
  • If a teacher tests positive do their students have to quarantine for 14 days?
  • If a teacher tests positive do they have to use their sick days?
  • If a teacher tests positive would they still be required to teach in quarantine?
  • If a teacher tests positive who will teach their students if the teacher is unavailable?
  • If a teacher or student tests positive will we require every student and faculty member to get tested?

There is simply no more time left to debate this any longer.  Our loved ones well being must be the priority above all things.
