Goldfish are living creatures and should not be given away as fairground prizes. This is an outdated and cruel practice and not appropriate in a civilised society. These poor fish can end up in the hands of anyone and many will be unwanted and uncared for and will inevitably die as a result The owners of Clacton Pier promised that they would give this matter their serious consideration when we brought it to their attention last year. However once again they have permitted their tenants to give away goldfish as prizes in 2018. They need to understand that public opinion is against this and that they are urged to stop this irresponsible practice with immediate effect.
