Clackmannanshire council have decided to close The Leisure Bowl for good. I know first hand that the building and facilities have helped hundreds of people over the twenty plus years it has been open. Physically and mentally. We cannot underestimate the impact the closure with have on the community, from the gym to the aerobics classes, attended by all ages, the indoor bowls, the snooker and bar area, most importantly the swimming pool. Hundreds of kids were part of our swimming lessons groups and the cruelest thing in all this is that they no longer have the opportunity to learn how to swim, a life skill. In a county that is already ravished with poverty and kids are already at a disadvantage. It is shocking the council have had two years to put into plan the opening of new swimming facilities in Clackmannanshire before closing the leisure bowl, and haven’t. The Leisure Bowl is critical for mental health and well-being , and during a global health pandemic you would think was essential. The council must be held accountable for this, Clackmannanshire needs a swimming pool.  Please sign this petition so we can create awareness!!
