I would like to update everyone on an initiative I started earlier this year. In April, I submitted a complaint before the European Parliament against Bulgaria's systemic breaches of the presumption of innocence, which is enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and strengthened by Directive 2016/343 on the presumption of innocence. My complaint refers to case law against Bulgaria by the European Court of Human Rights as well as recent cases of abuse. The complaint has now passed the first round of review and has been uploaded on the website of the European Parliament. The Committee, which will examine it, can take concrete action - issue reports and urge Bulgaria's government to implement legislative changes and policies to comply with EU law.

I will be very grateful if you support my complaint - the more signatures I have, the more pressure the European Parliament will face to examine it and take (some) action soon. Бих искала да Ви информирам за моя инициатива от началото на годината. През април подадох жалба пред Европейския парламент срещу системното поругаване на презумпцията за невиновност от страна на българските власти - практика, която е в пряк разрез с Хартата на човешките права на ЕС и Директива 2016/343. Жалбата ми се позовава на конкретни решения срещу България от Съда в Страсбург, както и показните акции, на които станахме свидетели през последните години. Комисията, която ще я разглежда, има правомощия да отправи конкретни препоръки към българските власти, както и да следи за изпълнението им.

Ако имате възможност, моля подкрепете жалбата, която вече е качена на сайта на Европейския парламент. Колкото повече подписи има, толкова по-бързо ще я разгледат по същество.
