Stop using hindi as instruction medium in intra state flights in Tamilnadu
The Issue
I am a frequent flyer and I travel across india very frequently. Across India wherever I travel, airline operators use only Hindi and English for communicating safety instructions to passengers. I understand that Hindi is a language that most Indians speak and it is more convenient to use it. I don't dispute when it is used in interstate travel or in states which people are much acquainted with Hindi. Whereas in States such as Tamil Nadu, where 90% of the population don't understand Hindi, We are forced to listen to all communication by the cabin crew in Hindi before we hear it in English. Why should Hindi be used in a regional flight at all if the passengers dont understand what is being communicated.
My Hunble request is to use the regional language as a medium of communication along with English. If its hard to find cabin crew who can speak the language, please play recorded voice or just skip Hindi. Only english is enough because repeating in hindi is of no use. it only irritates people who dont know both the language. Please change the practice atleast in Tamilnadu, as most of us dont understand Hindi. Its very essential as these are important safety related instructions that may not be understood by people who dont know Hindi and English.
Please sign this petition so that we make a strong case in front of the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Thanks
