Civic Bullying and Abuse in Cambridge, MA

The Issue

June two years ago I was assaulted by an Officer Casey McGrath of the Cambridge Police Department. Without going into too much detail, I was left with scars that I wear to this day. There were two officers assisting him in the assault and one female officer who just watched it happen. Afterwards they threw me and my belongings against a bench damaging a $3000 computer. They then proceeded to make jokes about the incident and racial/ socioeconomic commentary about me as a individual while I bled on a bench.

After I was relieved of the false charges for which they were arresting me I approached the Professional Standards group of Cambridge Police. Christine Elow proceeded to take my deposition and did nothing. Finally after months of hearing nothing I returned to Christine Elow’s office where she assured me that it was okay for them beat me in the streets but they would help replace my computer. My body had less notable value that a piece of machinery. Either way I have not seen a dime. With a casual grin she directed me to a citizen based group that handles these types of issues.

The Police Review & Advisory Board was immediately reconstructed after the Henry Gates incident. The head of the board was systematically removed and replace by a liaison Brian Corr. Brian Corr made it clear that he didn’t really work there at the time. He said he had another position in Cambridge local. After promptly following the procedure to have a hearing with the board I didn't hear from Mr. Corr for almost a year. When I finally got in contact with Mr. Corr he acted as though he had forgotten about the hearing entirely. He claims that the meeting happened and he neglected to inform me. Meanwhile I had specifically requested to be present during the meeting so I may present the situation accurately and address any questions. Apparently that slipped his mind as well. The incident was passed over and the hearing never happened. Obviously they are waiting for the statute of limitations to expire.

This sort of callous ignoring of obvious misconduct by non-elect civic SERVANTS is how worse and worse things happen. These people are cowards who carry deadly weapons but still feel so powerless that they bully people who cannot defend themselves. Like spoiled children the police department marks what they are allowed to get away with and pushes that same boundary. But it is only against those whom they feel have no power, money or influence to do anything about it. Please help me say no...
