The new Canberra LED Streetlights are a great improvement to electricity consumption, however the LEDs mounted in residential areas are not aimed or confined to lighting up the street, they enter people's homes and are creating an excessive amount of light in suburban residential areas where 8m tall highway strength LED lights have been mounted.

This petition is a request to limit the light pollution those sterile lights are causing in residential suburban areas by containing the lights to the road/footpaths they need to light up and aiming/programming them to suitable lighting for the type of street/road/crescent they are fitted in.

The new LED lights are felt as a threat to safety as they light up to daylight front yards and homes causing light pollution, disturbing people's need for darkness at night polluting Canberra's, once famous, unpolluted sky.
