Mr Chippy York (Mr Chippy York) started this petition to City of York transport exec Andy D'Agorne

We are petitioning to allow, in pedestrianised areas of towns, unrestricted access for essential delivery cyclists to ride through between jobs in order to fulfil essential hot food and shopping deliveries to the public, shielding, elderly and vulnerable efficiently and without the worry of receiving fines for cycling.
During the pandemic city centres have been a lifeline to outlying suburbs, areas that are cut off due to local businesses shutting and residents staying home for safety. Due to this the few city centre businesses that have stayed open need to be reliable enough for these vulnerable and needy to use with peace of mind.
Riders are not able to do this in pedestrianised areas as they are forced to walk in and out, making orders late, cold. This is of detriment to the customer, business and rider.
As one of the only businesses left open throughout and contributing massively to a reduced economy in York we are effectively being strangled into offering a slowed down service, this in turn has not allowed us to take on more staff to deal with a fast paced environment, thus creating another sufferance for the local economy.
Finally this is an argument for delivery rider access.
