Hey Winnipeg! It's time to ban plastic bags in our city
0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!
In 2017, Winnipeg produced 174,280 tonnes of garbage. A huge percentage of that was plastic and an even larger percentage of that was single-use plastic bags. With so many substitutes including reusable bags, boxes, paper bags or simply carrying items, it is now time for Winnipeg to join the many places around the world, ranging from Germany and Ireland to even more local examples like Norway House, The Pas and most recently, Montreal. Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. Which amounts to over one million bags per minute. It is now time for Winnipeg to join over 40 countries around the world and play our part to make the planet a greener place. Feel free to share our petition and use our hashtag #banthebagwpg
