Whittier Community Fridge is being threatened by our city. The fridge has helped many individuals, including houseless and those housed, facing food insecurity. The fridge has been providing free food for the public since the beginning of August 2020 (7 days a week; 24 hours a day). Those working with the community fridge have worked hard in order to comply with the cities requests. The city has been an ongoing opposer to the fridge and thus opposes daily free food access to it's community members in need. Their latest move in shutting down the fridge has been a citation stating that the fridge needs to be removed within the next five days ( October 23, 2020). In an effort to keep the fridge from being shut down we are asking community members to help us take a stand against this unjust request.
