The Council intends to cut down the tall, luscious London Plane trees on Queensway that are central to its character. A number of trees have already been removed and replaced and one of the glorious London Planes outside Queensway Market has already been felled. The three that remain are 2 near the entrance to Mandarin Kitchen and 1 outside what used to be Little Persia.

The London Planes are beautiful and healthy. If, like me, you thought they'd be safe and that there could not possibly be any intention to cut them down, you were wrong. Please sign the petition and hopefully it will be a start in our plight to get the Council to abandon its plans to cut them down. 

The Council's intention is to replace them with new trees (for a coherent image along Queensway) but there is absolutely no good reason to cut down these glorious trees that have adorned our street for decades in order to plant new trees that are small and add very little by way of natural beauty to the environment.

We need to keep Queensway's character authentic and we must not sacrifice its existing natural beauty!
