STOP WA from Taking our Parking and Charging us to do it!
The Issue
The city wants to narrow 73rd Street in the name of "traffic calming" - and they want to stick us with the bill to do it! Up to $3,263 for a single family to burden! Businesses could be higher!
We have been on this block for over 20 years and have NEVER seen a speed trap or someone pulled over for speeding on this street! We already pay high taxes - if speeding is a problem then the police should be issuing citations!
Parking is already at a premium on 73rd street and this proposal will be DETRIMENTAL to the already strained parking situation! Consider:
- Regular resident and guest parking,
- plus Wednesday and Sunday church services,
- plus Playhouse business,
- plus Aurora employees and visitors,
- plus State Fair goers,
- plus winter snow banks,
- plus yard waste and leaf piles...
...all fill up our street already without cutting it almost in half! And if this really does restrict traffic, what happens when the WAFD needs to put out a fire?? Pretty sure 2 houses just burned down one block over!
STAND WITH US on Tuesday, February 21st at 7:00PM at City Hall and be sure to sign the petition which will be delivered on or before that hearing time!!
