Who do I write? How do I express my feelings and opinions to get action? The proposed scenarios for our Virginia Beach Public School students has left me in dismay. We must take action and share our voices for them to count. Any option other than fully returning to our Academic Year in September could cripple our community economically and emotionally. I cannot imagine what will happen to families, the economy, our kids and teachers if we don't fully return to school on the fall. Our children who were THRIVING in school are demonstrating depression and disengagement the longer we have been virtually learning and we as parents have been dedicated and in regular contact with their teachers. Now let's think about the families whose children don't have a loving and nurturing home life and don't have someone to support their school efforts, who  stands up for their quiet voices? Our teachers are suffering too! It is ludicrous to me that we won't unless coronavirus is eliminated as a risk... it will never be eliminated that's unrealistic. Half the country will have to stay on Gov't assistance and unemployment to stay home to school their children. Either myself or my husband will have to leave our career, and rely on the government to supplement our income, which is a whole other can of worms for our economy and completely against our core values and freedoms to allow us to EARN our income and SERVE our community! I can't wrap my head around this even being a possible reality!!! If others feel the same I hope they unite here by signature in hopes we can provide influence to this very critical matter!
