No words can describe the heart wrenching feeling pulling up to your spot and the Conditional Use sign is posted. Meaning that the trails are close to meeting the front end of a tractor. I guess it's the chance you take to build your own fun on someone else's land.
The thousands of volunteer hours it takes to build a set of trails just so you can get a couple priceless smiles with friends, ripped away in an instant.
The closest I can describe this feeling is that of when I lost my grandfather.
Taking it a day at a time. But we won't go down without a fight.
These woods are what's teaching the local youth respect, wisdom, loyalty, friendship, patience and so many more enduring qualities of a great individual.
It is also a place to release energy, frustrations and stress that otherwise might lead to worse things than riding a bicycle
With trails and jumps for all levels of rider, Thrashmore is built for all ages from 4 years old to people in their 40s and 50s.
Maybe they need to just ask themselves where the youth will/would be without the woods.
Does our city need a parking lot for a car dealership? Or would it benefit more from woods that are inhabited by at least 3 red hawks, raccoons, turtles and where many other animal species thrive? A community driven green space that helped mold an Olympian and teaches and encourages youth to be themselves and helps them reach the very best version of themselves they can be.
