With the ever-growing population in York Region and the lack of reliable transportation for the working population, parking issues in Maple Go station has been getting worse and worse. Currently there are only 1200+ parking spots at the station, of which 600 is rented as a "reserved parking" for $94 a month (with hundreds in waiting list). The only way to get use of available parking is to arrive in the station before 6:30am. Some commuters park at the near-by retailers but they have started issuing tickets on random basis. Occasionally commuters park on the un-paved shoulder of street inside the station (front of the cemetery) but City staff make sure to issue parking for more than 3-hours park on daily basis. With the lack of proper side-walk & limited number of trains, drivers rush to the station which creates a very Unsafe environment for pedestrians. This situation is putting a tremendous amount of pressure to the families & bread-winners who must commute to make a living. Please support the following short-term & long-term solutions 1- Provide Frequent Rush-hour Shuttle Buses to & from the station to go alongside the Major Mackenzie Drive from Yonge Street to Weston Road & "into the local neighborhoods". 2- Approve & Plan the Multi-Level Parking structure for Maple Go. 3- Provide more frequent schedules for the Barrie Go Train line. 4- Add multiple stations (North of Maple station) to Divert Traffic.
