We, the undersigned,  Petition  Union City Board of Commissioners and the Union City Construction Official   to order the IMMEDIATE demolition of the abandoned buildings pursuant to the Union City Building Code:

 These buildings are a fire hazard, an eyesore, reduce our property values, and give Union City a disgusting presentation to visitors coming up the viaduct the first time.  Vagrants may live there, animals may dwell there, one building is a burned out shell. They present an unsafe hazard to the health and well being of our Neighborhood; said buildings which are located on these properties:

These buildings have been deemed

“Notice of Imminent Hazard Dated”  (violation 20070238/0 1502-1504 Manhattan Ave) 

“Unsafe Hazard” on 11/8/2007 (violation 2001-0273/0 for 1502-1504 Manhattan Ave)

Unsafe Hazard” on 9/18/2007 (violation 2001-0239/0 for 1506-1510 Manhattan Ave)

Section #107 -1 Findings of Fact and the last sentence that partial reads".....inimical to the welfare of the residents of Union City." is also appropriate.

 Numerous persons testified before the hearings about the Redevelopment Plan in 2014 and 2015 at Colin Powell School about the need for these buildings to be demolished for the well being of the neighborhood.

 Yet, these buildings are still here,  almost 8 years after they were deemed unsafe.  All other burned buildings are removed immediately in Union City.

Under the above building code – Chapter 107 – various sections- see above,   we, the undersigned  demand the City take action as described by the Code and ORDER THESE BUILDINGS DEMOLISHED IMMEDIATELY , and if the owner does not, to do so and bill the owners as stipulated in the Code.
