In 2018 the Wapadrand sub station burnt down leaving the east of Pretoria without electricity for 10 days while a new sub station had to be built next to the existing sub station. 

Since then our area have been experiencing constant outages as the current sub station was first of all built in a rush and secondly is being overloaded. There has been major development in our area which creates a requirement for more electricity. The current sub station cannot carry this load.

According to COT the tender for the old sub station to be rebuilt is now open. This is nearly 3 years after it burnt down. We as a community cannot live with these constant outages anymore and request that something be done about this issue as a matter of urgency.
