When our homes were originally built in the 1920s, alley and non alley homes all had cement strip driveways.

A few years ago the City chamge the code and no longer allow alley homes to have driveways. Due to this and growing families our streets and alleys cannot accommodate all the vehicles leaving our communities with heavy congestion.

This has made impossible some days for the Sanitation Department to access our homes because of vehicle congestion.

This has caused it impossible for heavy large vehicles like Sanitation trucks to have to drive over our original historic curbs, pushing them further into the ground which now allows for sand run off into our sewers.

The majority of alley homes have the original to home being built cement strip driveways. If this is reversevd it would allow homeowners to install driveways keeping the original look and saving our streets and curbs. Homeowners should be allowed as the original homeowners were when our community was built to have a driveway,  it is our home and our community and we should be given back our rights.
