Dear Supporters,

The committee members (see list below) for the alternate plan committee have been selected by the city manager and the date and time of the meeting is Thursday, 30 September. This is NOT an open public meeting. While I have not met any of the ward representatives in this city appointed quasi-city council committee I have several concerns about its composition. There are numerous personal and financial relationships among several of these individuals and the city, which makes me concerned about their ability to remain objective in a room of their donors, friends and associates. Also, there is no representation from Spice Rack, Royal Tamarack or other residents at large in the city concerned with and directly affected by this proposed development. Finally, with over 2000 petition signatures (online and paper) I believe those opposed to this plan deserve more seats at the table (more than only two out of 13 committee members).

I still believe the committee can be a step in the right direction, but only if the seller, developer and city are sincerely committed to finding a compromise between the current R-1 zoning and the developer's latest plan. We will find out soon enough if these groups are interested in making a plan that brings the community together. This is not the time to sit back and rest - please email city council (council@cityofspringboro.com) and the mayor (mayor@cityofspringboro.com) about what you find acceptable in a compromised plan, insist that true compromise is found instead of just token changes, and vocalize any questions or concerns you might have about this committee that is representing you. Or call 937-748-4356.
