Dear Supporters,

Thank you to everyone that came out to the meeting on Thursday, 16 September. The vote has been tabled for now while an alternate plan is reviewed in a committee. For complete details, see the Dayton Daily News article here. The alternate plan I submitted was my singular attempt to help council realize there are other much better ways forward. The drawing was inspired by the opposition speeches over the last six months and comments made in this group about what would be acceptable. I may have missed some things, but that doesn't mean we cannot change it. This was my attempt to persuade city council to re-think the plan, not make it THE plan.

True compromise lies somewhere between the current R-1 zoning and the latest still-too-dense developer proposed plan. This is something that needs wide-ranging community input. I'm not sure where or what it'll end up looking like or even if the developer is truly willing to compromise. I am not quite sure how this committee thing is going to work yet either but it needs to have a variety of folks on it to bring a range of perspectives and ideas.

This committee looks to be a step in the right direction, but it isn't clear yet where we'll end up or if the developer is actually willing to compromise. For now, this isn't a victory, it is a pause in the action to see if council and the developer will do what they know is right for this city. If it turns out true compromise isn't on the table, we'll be right back where we were before the 16 September meeting.

Please keep up the support, stay informed and please let city council (council@cityofspringboro.com) know what ideas you have and what you might find acceptable so that all or our input can be considered in a truly compromised plan.
