MARK YOUR CALENDARS – FINAL LOG HOUSE LANDING COUNCIL WORKSHOP ON WEDNESDAY JULY 1ST 6:30PM AT THE SCANDIA COMMUNITY CENTER A final presentation to the Scandia City Council is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1st. We need your attendance at this meeting! We anticipate that this will be the last meeting before the Council makes a decision about how to proceed with improvements to the Log House Landing and road. When citizens show up, it speaks volumes to the Council about how important this issue continues to be for our community. Over the last several months, a group of concerned citizens has continued to research options for this environmentally sensitive area. They have been working with the Watershed and have consulted with two well-respected gravel road experts and educators. One of these consultants is an engineer who has assisted in the analysis and the design of natural alternative surface options and solutions. The July 1st presentation will show the Council that there are significant performance and economic benefits to these designs and surfaces. The presentation will demonstrate that improvements to the road and landing can be made, while also achieving our community goals to: • Allow for a natural aggregate surface • Preserve the existing trees and mature canopy • Maintain the viewsheds • Prevent sedimentation into the creek and river • Maintain the rustic and historic character • Address safety, speed and width concerns • Comply with the Scandia Comprehensive Plan • Significantly reduce tax-payer costs All of these objectives are possible, but they will be sacrificed if the council votes to widen and pave this landing and road. You can make a difference if you participate. Please plan to attend this meeting! Thank you for your continued support. Friends of Log House Landing
