Maintain Current Parking Enforcement Hours in SLO

Maintain Current Parking Enforcement Hours in SLO
Effective July 19, 2021 new parking enforcement hours are scheduled to take effect in Downtown San Luis Obispo.
- Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
- Sunday, 1 p.m. - 9 p.m.
- Loading Zone parking after 6 p.m. will require payment at a pay station DAILY
Small businesses including restaurants that rely on the limited close parking to their storefronts will be affected most by this change. The new pay stations did not launch with an available app, adding an additional inconvenience for drivers. Most major cities including San Francisco, Boston, even end their paid parking at 8 p.m.
Under the new rate changes, zones will begin at $1.25/ hour and go up to $2/ hour.
In a year that has been difficult enough for small local businesses, adding another hurdle to get customers into their door is the last thing we need. Not to mention the addition of parking "zones" complicate the pay station situation.
Signing this position shows support for small businesses, and to keep the enforcement hours as they are now:
- Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Sunday, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- Loading Zone parking FREE after 6 p.m.
