The city of Rancho Santa Margarita is required by state law to plan for 680 new homes (48% low income) over the next 8 years. The city stated they are considering public input on the locations and are basing decisions based on community opinion. One of the proposed options includes the flower field at the end of Antonio and Las Flores. This petition is intended to protect this land as a community resource. It serves as a direct walking path to the canyon, brings nature into the master planned community and is constantly used by the people who live here. This greenbelt space is not large enough to fulfill the states requirement leaving additional land needed for development. Using this small parcel of land takes away an aesthetic that makes RSM so beautiful and such a desirable place to live. Please sign this petition to urge the RSM city council to consider other options such as repurposing land used for commercial  businesses.
