Clean Up Floyd Branch Creek

The Issue

Floyd Branch Creek is a stream located just 3.4 miles from Richardson, in Dallas County, in the state of Texas, United States. This drainage area covers approximately 2,500 acres, or 3.83 square miles. The sewage generated in the Floyd Branch basin flows into the City of Richardson Floyd Branch Plant for treatment.

In April of 2013, the CB JENI Lifestyle Homes began the Townhomes project on Spring Valley Road and Greenville Ave. Two and a half years later, the project is almost completed. During construction, dams were breached by storms multiple times, and dirt, garbage and construction debris were washed into the creek. The water in the creek is murky, it no longer flows freely, and it's unhealthy for humans, marine life (beavers and fish) and the birds (ducks) that fish in the creek. In addition to the environmental hazards posed by the unhealthy water quality, local residents are also very concerned about flooding.

Residents have sent emails, made phone calls and submitted online requests asking the city to take responsibility on cleaning the creek. The city of Richardson has sent a crew of Lawn Mowing a couple of time to the creek, but they do just that. Ton of garbage is still sitting around, and plastic bags are the most commonly found litter.

For the past 3 years I has been a resident of the Brick Row apartment complex, the Floyd Branch Creek has been ignored. Please sign the Clean Up Floyd Branch Creek Petition and formally request that the City of Richardson takes full responsibility for the waterway by cleaning up the creek.
