The City of Regina's response to comments on Twitter is almost as tone-deaf as their decision to hire Patrick Moore:

"The conference agenda and topics are apolitical. The mix of speakers and discussion is meant to represent viewpoints from all parts of the spectrum. Patrick Moore is a recognized expert and internationally renowned ecologist and environmentalist. He brings a valuable perspective as someone with an accomplished resume and passion for environmental issues that the conference will explore."

There is nothing apolitical about choosing a politically-motivated lobbyist as a keynote speaker. Inviting debate and opposing viewpoints are important parts of a healthy democracy, but when it comes to humans causing climate change, there is actually no disagreement among the scientific community. Patrick Moore is neither an environmentalist nor a climate scientist.

Keep the pressure on the city council.
