Birds, especially doves, breed during the warm months. They make their nests in trees, safe from predators and weather. The city of Redondo Beach has hired tree trimmers every year during the spring and summer months, when dove fledglings are seen being fed by their mothers. They take away the birds' shelter and damage nests. Baby birds end up as orphans who get sent to rescues or worse, get thrown into the wood chipper. They need to wait until December and January, when it is not breeding season to trim the trees. They also need to stop going overboard with the trimming because it makes the birds and squirrels who live in the trees vulnerable to predators. Please sign to save our birds!
