Hey Raleigh! Carve art from the Rose Garden tree

The Issue

During Hurricane Florence, the Raleigh Rose Garden lost one of the massive trees that surround the park. Instead of simply chopping it up in the coming weeks, we need to move quickly, speak out and show our support to save part of the tree.

We hope to convince the City of Raleigh and the Raleigh Little Theater to create a monument from the tree after it's determined to be a usable wood and a design is approved. Carving the tree could honor the garden, the tree, the storm, and provide a piece of public art. Shown here is a similar tree that toppled at Umstead State Park and was carved by a local artist. Now an attraction for both locals and tourists, alike.
