Save Our Robert T. McNab Memorial Park

Save Our Robert T. McNab Memorial Park
The Issue
The Robert T McNab Memorial Park with its beautiful lush trees, community clubhouse, playground, tennis, basketball, shuffleboard, and racquetball courts, has long been enjoyed by the residents of Pompano Beach, FL, for close to 70 years. The neighborhood park was was gifted to the community as a Memorial park by the father and uncle of Robert T. McNab. The small 2.5 acre park is not underused nor is it a blight on the neighborhood, as the CRA would have you believe. This is the only park east of US1 that has sports amenities and playground equipment. GO Bond Money could be used to refurbish the park, so it may be preserved and enjoyed by the community for years to come. The voters passed this to enable the City of Pompano to revitalize our parks. With all of the growth and the future developments in the City of Pompano Beach east, it is difficult to comprehend why the city would commercialize this small neighborhood park.
We request that Robert T. McNab Memorial Park remain zoned as a park and not be commercialized. We object to the relocation of the very large old McNab House and the two story garage, to this small park. The CRA plans to convert the building to a restaurant and expand the restaurant area with a garden for the restaurants' catered events. Several million will be spent doing this. The CRA plans another phase which will encompass the addition of 2 BnB hotel buildings. The City of Pompano Beach has other commercial property that is better suited for this endeavor. It appears to the community that it isn't about saving an old house, it's about commercializing and taking away the park. Could it be the commercialization of McNab Park has been a secret agenda of the city and the CRA for a couple of years?
Please help us preserve Robert T. McNab Memorial Park and sign our petition. Should you wish to express your personal thoughts to our City of Pompano Beach Commissioners, the email addresses are listed below.
