Petition updateOwatonna & Steele County to repurpose Residential Street for Highway

*Update* Thank you again for your vote. The charge forward continues!

Your vote means a lot, and we just want to say thank you again! It's been a wild ride and will continue to be. We continue to hold the city of Owatonna and Steele county accountable to plan the east side corridor properly and not place it next to neighborhoods with small children, where a highway just doesn't make sense. Check out the photo above for how close this proposed highway is (orange line) to a family's swing set.

We've been attending city and county commissioner meetings since this ordeal began at an open house earlier this year. Each meeting is recorded if you'd like to hear from neighborhood representatives and Owatonna residents pleading with officials to plan this road better. For the county meetings the public comment section is towards the front of the meeting. For the city council meetings it's towards the end.

Please consider sharing this petition through your social media connections. We can't do it without you! Our next goal is to reach 300!

There are seats on the city council and county commission coming up for re-election in 2024. Greg Schultz and Jim Abbe (and others) need to hear us loud and clear that they need to listen to their constituents. Thus far they have been unwilling to move away from this dangerous plan.

Speaking out against poor planning with your vote is a powerful thing. And it's not just this highway they're wanting to put next to residential neighborhoods. There are other poorly planned projects & decisions afoot in Owatonna. I'm sure you know of a few!

Also, please consider visiting our website and clicking on the email link to easily send a message of your support of us to the decision makers on this project, asking them to move the highway to a responsible location, away from existing  neighborhoods.

Lastly, be sure to tune in to Straight Talk, an Owatonna Live event that will air on November 14th for an interview with Matt Sennott, a representative from one of the affected neighborhoods, talking about the concerns with the location of this proposed highway!

Thanks for your support!
