Save Orlando Music Culture -- End New Sound Policy

Save Orlando Music Culture -- End New Sound Policy
The Issue
After COVID-19 forced businesses to shut down, no industry took longer to restart than the entertainment industry. The pandemic certainly dealt the heaviest blow to businesses which operate under the goal of bringing people together.
However, our resilient community evolved and learned how to adjust operations to allow people to safely enjoy everything our culture has to offer. For many, this meant taking advantage of outdoor and open air environments, as recommended by the CDC.
Just as Florida businesses attempt to slowly recover the devastating losses from COVID-19, the City of Orlando has thoughtlessly made the decision to implement a crippling sound policy which damages the community.
The new ordinance (2021-39) limits sound which is audible outdoors (even when bleeding from indoor operations) to 70db at all times in the Downtown areas, once again forcing music venues and businesses with outdoor dining featuring live entertainment to end operations.
This unreasonable sound policy is crushing the culture of music and art in Orlando.
Orlando has a long and incredible history of fostering the growth of musicians and connecting the community together via events which celebrate the arts, but the City government is putting an end to Orlando's culture with this new ordinance.
Business owners in Orlando's entertainment industry have actively pleaded with the City to think deeper about the damaging impacts of this decision, and allow the community to thrive again. These efforts have been blatantly ignored and the heart of the community has gone unheard.
We need your help. Together, we can demonstrate that the Orlando music community cannot be ignored and silenced.
Sign the petition now to show the City of Orlando government how many people are negatively impacted by the destructive actions of the City!
