Grimes County has no available resources for homeless animals.  The City of Navasota has a small animal shelter which only services the city limits.  Citizens residing in the rest of the county have almost no options for help with strays.  Many people have been frustrated when they find out that the city shelter cannot help them.  Rescues are overflowing, and other shelters only provide services in their counties.  We would like to see the creation of:

1.  A county-wide NO-KILL animal shelter/animal control services.  "No-kill" encompasses a variety of solutions to save the lives of animals

2.  Collaboration with local veterinarians or others to provide spay/neuter and vaccination assistance to the community

3.  A Trap/Neuter/Release program for feral cats

4.  County-wide animal ordinances to provide safety for all animals

This is just a very short list of changes we would like to see in Grimes County.  All of this and more can be accomplished by working with existing rescues, volunteers, and charitable programs.  Please provide safe rescources for the homeless and abused animals of Grimes County!
