Help create a place for our furry friends in the heart of downtown Nanaimo. A place for dogs and their owners to run and play while fostering a sense of community in the downtown core!

Why would this be a good idea?

1. This space is currently underutilized on a daily basis

2. There are often off leash dogs in Nob Hill park because it is one of the few accessible big green spaces downtown-a fenced in area would make it safer for both children and dogs

3. The downtown community needs a dog off leash park other than the dams

4. The downtown community is composed of a large number of rentals and apartment building and suites, leaving pet owners pressed to find outdoor space for their dogs

5. Downtown tourism would benefit as would visitors from Gabriola

6. The park would be lit, monitored, fenced and used daily

7. It would be the first park in Nanaimo to possibly have a playground in sight line of a dog off leash area...promoting families to stay and play 

8. During the winter months, dog walkers make up the majority of park users

9. The space available exceeds that of the Northfield dog off leash area and rivals Departure bay dog off leash area

10. It would increase the duration of park usage by the individual
