Council now consulting with the community on the proposed sale of the land surrounding and including our headquarters - the Bluestone Cottage - via Conversations Moreland.
We need to community to tell Council that the most appropriate outcome for the Cottage, the Society and the community - is for the Cottage site to be subdivided and retained in Council ownership with the Coburg Historical Society as its ongoing tenant and joint custodian - along with the City of Moreland.
We do not feel it is appropriate for a private third party to own this important site.
We presently occupy three buildings on site - the heritage listed Cottage and kitchen, and a separate garage building - the Gordon Perlstein annex. In the long term the Society believes the Cottage and kitchen should be appropriately restored, and a fit for purpose archive built to replace the Annex.
