Jared Pickens started this petition to City of Mckinney

The City of McKinney is in the middle of a zoning change for a parcel of land abutting Fairview Soccer Park immediately to the north and stretching the entire length of the complex. The owner’s intended use is to develop a concrete manufacturing and recycling plant. Please note that this project was approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission without a single question on August 24, as McKinney has no residences in this area who would complain.

Concrete plants are an EPA-indicated significant source of emissions containing sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and carbon monoxide as well as dust, which affect the lungs and vision, among other things. Please note that concrete plants in Texas are such polluters that there is a legislative mandate to study air quality issues if they are near schools; unfortunately, no such mandate exists for parks.

This plant and its pollutants will impact hundreds of children’s health as they play outdoors in the zone of its dust and emissions, and we are asking for your help to stop this development. This could result in the permanent closure of Fairview Soccer Park, one of the most beloved and beautiful soccer complexes in Texas.

Please sign this petition showing that you are against this cement plant and help protect our children's health and save Fairview Soccer Park.

Let’s remind McKinney to keep itself “Unique by Nature”!
