Petition updateMake your voice heard with the Margate (FL) CRA and the Margate Commission.
MCRA meeting from April 12, 2017

Charlie ArtnerMargate, FL, United States
May 1, 2017
As reported in an earlier update, Margate Commission was arguing to lower the number of appartments and my understanding was that the developer and the Commission found a new number which was around 750 (+/-) apartments.
The response of the developer was that they wanted to renegotiate the already ridiculously low price of the property. Basically they asked back for some of the money.
So on 4/12/2017 the MCRA discussed the "CONSIDERATION OF MARGATE CITY CENTER SITE PLAN" (ID 2017-259)
You can watch that meeting here: http://margatefl.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=1&clip_id=140
At around 32:20 minutes into the meeting Mayor Ruzzano asked how many units are in this proposed city center site plan and the answer was 1,016 apartments.
So basically the developer said "screw you, I'll do whatever I want anyway" and after the number was lowered from 963 to around 750 they just pumped it up to over 1,000 apartments.
At about 35:30 minutes into the meeting Mayor Ruzzano suggested to just get the CRA attorney and the developer's attorney together and work out a plan so both parties can just walk away from this project, because he does not see any way how this project can continue like this.
The developer has obviously no intentions to work with the residents of Margate and will do whatever he wants.
So please spread the word and spread this petition so we can get more signatures to change this ridiculous project.
We do want down town developed, but we want it developed for the benefit of the residents for Margate and not to benefit the deep pockets of an inconsiderate developer.
