Hi Newtown Park Lights Supporters!
In my last update in December, I mentioned the two upcoming public comment periods to discuss the Johns Creek Parks Plan. The first of these is today, January 5th, at City Hall (11360 Lakefield Dr.) and the second is Monday, January 9th, at Park Place (3125 Old Alabama Road). Both meetings take place at 6:00 p.m.
Since that update, I've heard that the anti-park lights group plans to bring a large crowd to the January 9th meeting. Our team is concerned that if the pro-lights community does not have a comparable (or larger) group at the meeting, it will give the impression to decision makers that our need for lights does not merit consideration. Even though their group is significantly smaller than the more than 500 people who have signed this petition, their continued attendance at these city council meetings and public comment periods has been more consistent than our group's.
If you are interested in lightning Newtown Park, whether for the dog park, lacrosse fields, tennis/pickleball, walking trails, soccer fields, baseball fields, playground, or other areas, please try to attend one of these two meetings to voice your opinion. Johns Creek is a city of more than 80,000 people. The 500+ people who have signed this petition and countless others who would benefit from lightning the park need to convince the city council that this is an investment worth making for our community.
As always, thank you for your support for this cause! I hope to see many of you at one of these meetings!
