PROTECT ALBERT'S FARM CONSERVANCY

PROTECT ALBERT'S FARM CONSERVANCY
Why this petition matters
Albert's Farm Conservancy is a beautiful and conservation protected park which is bordered by several suburbs, including Northcliff, East Town, Greymont and Albertsville, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Due to ongoing bylaw violations, including endangering/harming indigenous fauna and flora, lighting fires, polluting the water from the only natural spring in Johannesburg, erecting shelters, and constant noise from drumming and chanting, the integrity of the park's wildlife and the safety of people visiting the park for recreational activities are under serious threat. In the past 2 years there have been several muggings reported, as well as two dead bodies discovered, in the park.
Anyone using the park lands for activities which are prohibited under the bylaws are required to apply for and be granted the relevant permit to conduct such activities - such as all night prayer sessions. We support everyone's right to freely practise their religion/s, but must insist that activities be conducted within the law, and that such practises do not infringe upon anyone else's civil rights. No such permits have either been applied for nor granted.
We appeal to everyone to please sign our petition so that the relevant and responsible authorities immediately act to enforce the bylaws.
With a diverse range of flora and what may be left of the fauna, the park needs to be protected before the damage being caused becomes irreparable. It is in the best interests of everyone that the bylaws be immediately enforced. Please support our sincere efforts to save our parks.
