On 12/1/21, my stepson Jonathan was crossing Hazeltine Ave and was stuck by a car. He luckily walked away with only bumps, bruises and scrapes. While it was truly an accident, it could have been avoided.  No child should ever have to go through this and no parent should ever get that call. We're so lucky that it wasn't worse.

Many parents use the 7/11 parking lot to pick their kids up from school, many students go to 7/11 after school and many children walk to and from school. The nearest crosswalk is at the corner of State Street and Hazeltine Ave, which is .1 miles away from the front door to the school. There is no safe way for kids to cross. This was an issue when I attended Persell 20 years ago and was never addressed.

I'm calling on the City of Jamestown, NY and Jamestown Public Schools to install a crosswalk and a pedestrian crossing light on Hazeltine Ave at the corner of Hazeltine Ave and Parmenter Street. The number of vehicle vs pedestrian accidents here should be ZERO, especially when it comes to our children.
