Skateboarding has always played a big role in my life. It’s something I’ve enjoyed growing up. In Jackson we’ve had nixon skatepark, the park was open a lot more when I was younger but now it’s basically an abandoned lot I pass in my car. Nixon is only open a couple months out of the year and honestly from a skateboarders view, the park isn’t that great. Nixon skatepark has lots of cracks in the rough concrete and the transition isn’t the best. I feel with a new skatepark in Jackson it will not only improve the city but also create more traffic for local businesses and the park itself. With a new skatepark people from other cities will be traveling to Jackson just to skate! At least that’s what my friends and I are doing right now. A new skatepark will also open minds of many children and create a new hobby for most, it certainly did for me. A big wide open non fenced skatepark would be a perfect add to Jackson Michigan. Us skateboarders are currently skating downtown where we risk getting in trouble or we are in abandoned lots where it is not safe. All I ask from this is a safe new place for everyone to come and have a good time. A place for kids and all their friends to meet up and spend the day together. This park will be beneficial to all and I hope you can make something happen.
